The wait is over as the first day of the World Athletics U20 Championships gets underway today at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, with four Irish athletes set to begin their campaigns.

Thanks to the eight hour time difference, the opening morning session in Oregon will take place this evening in Irish time, while the evening session will run into the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Ireland will have two athletes in action during tonight's opening session before two more compete overnight, including Cillian Gleeson, who lines up in the men's 5000m final.
